Instituto Moreira Salles houses great Brazilian heritage in four different areas: photography, literature, music and iconography. It is a unique institution that will be able to offer books and exhibitions on these themes and also promote exhibitions of plastic arts by Brazilian and foreign artists, in addition to having a small cinema that brings cult films of extreme cultural value from different parts of the world. It currently exists in Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The photographic collection has approximately 2 million images of great names such as Marcel Gautherot, José Medeiros, Maureen Bisilliat, Thomaz Farkas, Hans Gunter Flieg and Otto Stupakoff. The music, on the other hand, gives an account of the beginnings of Brazilian songs made by great names such as Chiquinha Gonzaga, Ernesto Nazareth and Pixinguinha. Letters, papers, various documents and books represent the collection enriched by Literature researchers, personal archives of Clarice Lispector, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Erico Veríssimo, Lygia Fagundes Telles and among others. The institute is also singular in it's beauty. It's definetly worth your while.
