After pick up from your hotel or Airbnb, your tour will begin with a drive to a part of the vast Tijuca National Forest, renowned as the largest urban forest in the world, a UNESCO Biosphere site and an extraordinary destination for nature and ecotourism enthusiasts. You will go to the base station of one of the most famous landmarks on the planet: Rio de Janeiro's Christ the Redeemer Statue. Here you will start the journey that will take you up Corcovado mountain overlooking the city to visit one the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Towering on a granite outcropping at 710 m (2,329 ft) over a breathtaking vista, the immense statue stands with arms wide open facing haunting Guanabara Bay, blessing all who visit the Marvelous City. Enjoy 360-degree views of what many consider to be the most beautiful city in the world.
After a short hop back down Corcovado mountain through the sub-tropical cloud forest, you will meet up again with your private transport and head off to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro. Designed by Edgar Fonseca in a modern style based on Mayan pyramid architecture, the cathedral's four rectilinear stained glass windows soar 64 m (210 ft) from floor to ceiling. Then, you’ll stop by the famous Sambodrome, where the annual carnival parades are held every year, and then continue on to the most famous soccer stadium in the world: the mighty Maracanã.
Now you must have worked up an appetite, so it is time for a lunch stop at a "churrascaria," where a wide variety of perfectly barbecued meat cuts are served with heaping sides of farofa, feijoada and many other Brazilian delicacies. Tip: try a “Caipirinha” cocktail, both refreshing and relaxing at the same time.
Lunch over, you’ll go on an expedition up one of Rio's celebrated cable cars to visit Sugar Loaf Mountain for the most spectacular views of the city that can be experienced. Located in the Urca area of Rio, your iconic cable car journey first takes in Urca Mountain (224 m/735 ft) and then proceeds to Sugar Loaf Mountain (395 m/1,295 ft). From there, you will feel like you are on top of the world as you absorb the breathtaking views of the city...Copacabana Beach...Guanabara Bay…the looming mountains that border the coast...
After a ride back down to sea level by cable car, enjoy a guided tour of the most famous city beaches in the world, Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon, with stops for picture taking before heading back to your hotel for drop off.
